The foundation for a successful career

The diversity of businesses pursued by Bertelsmann companies is matched by the diversity and breadth of vocational training offered at Bertelsmann. In addition to aspiring media designers and experts for dialogue management, the company’s new faces include future industrial mechanics and chefs. For the first time, a young woman will be completing training as a Sport and Fitness Specialist at Bertelsmann, under the auspices of Bertelsmann’s Sports and Health Program (ZPS).

At the end of the year 2011, 1,284 young people were being trained for a profession at Bertelsmann companies in Germany. Beyond the industrial and commercial training provided, 176 apprentices are also enrolled in the Group’s own Bachelor’s degree program. The three-and-a-half year degrees are based on the proven dual-mode degree concept, i.e. they feature a complex mix of vocational school instruction, hands-on work at the companies, and a university of applied sciences degree program. We also employ 270 trainees and journalism students.
