Opportunities Galore: Fremantle Media Sends German Scholarship Recipient to the U.K. and Australia
What student doesn’t dream of working and studying abroad while collecting all sorts of job experience? The dream has just come true for Stephanie Dörner, the first recipient of Fremantle Media’s “Drama Scholarship Scheme.” Fremantle Media, an RTL Group production firm, has always been dedicated to promoting young talent in the TV Production sector; in its latest scholarship approach, recipients hone their talents by going through training in various departments and countries. Stephanie Dörner will be the first to spend a month in Fremantle’s “Worldwide Drama” department in London, then set to work on the British series “Family Affairs” before setting out for Australia, where she will assist with the series “Neighbours.” Finally, she will collect experiences in all areas of TV production – from the idea to the finished series footage, as it were– at Grundy UFA in Germany. Stephanie prevailed over more than 100 other applicants, whose tasks included writing a dialog sequence for the soap “Gute Zeiten, schlechte Zeiten” and continuing the storyline of a British series. Nick Malmholt, Head of Creative Development at Fremantle, firmly believes in a successful future both for the scholarship program and its first recipient: “Fremantle Media expends a lot of time and effort on scouting and promoting writing talent worldwide. Our program gives Stephanie every opportunity to gain the skills that are essential to a successful future in the TV business.”
