Offset Paperback Hosts 20th Annual Golf Tournament To Benefit Scholarship Fund For Employees’ Children
Earlier this week, Offset Paperback Mfrs., Inc. (OPM) held its 20th Annual Thomas R. Marvel, Sr. Memorial Scholarship Golf Tournament in Dallas, Pennsylvania. This year’s event drew 141 golfers, including representatives from OPM customer Random House, and raised more than $34,000 in scholarship money for children of OPM employees. The scholarships are awarded based on scholastic ability and financial need.
"We are extremely pleased to be able to award a total of $30,850 in scholarship money this year to 37 students who met our stringent academic and financial need requirements," said Adam C. Crahall, Director of Human Resources for OPM and Scholarship Board President. "These students join a long list of scholarship recipients who have benefited from this very worthwhile program since its inception in 1985." In its 20-year history, the Marvel Tournament has raised more than $325,000 and provided scholarship support to 420 OPM employee dependents.
The Thomas R. Marvel, Sr. Memorial Scholarship Fund was developed in memory of Thomas R. Marvel, Sr. who served as President of Offset Paperback from 1975 to 1985. Funding for the scholarship is received from several sources including The Annual Marvel Memorial Golf Tournament, Circle of Friends Contributors ($2,500 or more), as well as, employee, community and customer contributions. OPM’s customers from Random House, HarperCollins, Dorchester Publishing and Penguin Group USA, all supported and participated in this years charity golf event.
