SONY BMG Artists Perform For Worldwide TV Special “Shelter From The Storm: A Concert for the Gulf Coast”
Last Friday night, SONY BMG artists joined other superstars and celebrities for the television special, “Shelter FromThe Storm: A Concert for the Gulf Coast." The telethon to raise funds for Hurricane Katrina victims was broadcast on all six U.S. networks and in at least 95 countries worldwide. Among the SONY BMG artists who performed were Dixie Chicks, Foo Fighters, Alicia Keys and Rod Stewart.
SONY BMG’s artists and other performers appeared with film and television stars, including Jennifer Aniston, Jack Nicholson, Cameron Diaz, Morgan Freeman, Chris Rock, and Ellen DeGeneres, who answered calls from the public and collected donations. Callers could choose to donate their monies to either the American Red Cross or The Salvation Army.
The hour-long, commercial-free concert was broadcast live from the Sony Music Studios in New York City and Sony Pictures Studios in Culver City.
