Making A Difference: M6 Supports Concert Against Discrimination
On the evening of October 15, 2005, the French RTL Group station M6 and the city of Paris will be sending a decisive message against any kind of discrimination. Together, they are inviting youths to an unforgettable concert night, which will at the same time be an impressive demonstration of young people against discrimination and oppression. Ten of the current top musicians in France will perform on stage in the big Zénith concert hall starting at 9 p.m. The Conseil Parisien de la Jeunesse (CPF), the French capital's youth council, will partner with the city and the station M6 for the concert event "tous égaux – tous en scène" – which roughly means "all equal – all on stage."

Each of the ten artists will perform several pieces. Calogero, Raphael, Corneille, Bénabar, Anggun, Amel Bent, Wallen, Magic System, Jenifer, and Lââm have promised to appear. They all want to sensitize their young audience to the dangers of a creeping bigotry or open discrimination. They and the organizers are targeting all conceivable types of discrimination—from racism and anti-Semitism to the discrimination of homosexuals and people with disabilities—rather than any specific group.

Before the actual concert, starting at 6:30 p.m., the theater group Compagnie Arc-en-ciel will be performing four scenes illustrative of commonplace discrimination. Together with the audience, the actors want to interactively develop a better ending for the acted scenes. Along with the concert, 23 established organizations and associations, which are committed to the struggle against discrimination, will provide information about their work to the young guests. Thanks to the support of M6, the concert will be free of charge to the invited audience.
The large-scale event is being accompanied by a CPJ advertising campaign. One of the spots in this campaign shows two teenagers listening to different types of music, eating different kinds of food, and reacting differently to a film they both watched, but who then kiss each other gently. The next shot reveals that she is wearing inline skates and he is sitting in a wheelchair. And then the comment "Not on the same wheels – So what?" appears.
