'Give Me Five:' Vox Viewers Donate Almost €600,000 For SOS Children's Villages
About €600,000 was raised at this year's Vox charity campaign "Give me Five." All Vox viewers were called upon to donate five euros by calling a charity hotline between December 4 and 11, 2005. During the same period, the formats of the RTL Group station were dedicated to the donation campaign.
"Voxtours," "Schmeckt nicht, gibt's nicht," "Hundkatzemaus," "Wohnen nach Wunsch" and "Fit For Fun TV" all participated in the charity by making the "SOS Children's Villages" the focus of their shows. Tim Mälzer cooked with the young residents of the children's village in Detmold, and "Hundkatzemaus" veterinarian Dr. Wolf visited an SOS Children's Village in Dießen. Vox aired especially produced spots for the charity campaign to accompany the other activities.
Host Nandini Mitra announced the preliminary results of the campaign on Sunday in the show "Fit For Fun TV." Actor Oliver Mommsen, who visited a children's village in Kenya and reported about his experiences on site in "Fit For Fun TV" was a guest of the show. The sum of almost €600,000 will now be used for the "6 villages for 2006" campaign. By the end of the Football World Cup, six new SOS Children's Villages will be built in Brazil, Mexico, Nigeria, South Africa, Vietnam, and Ukraine. More than 800 children in need will be getting a home, a family, and the opportunity for a hopeful future.
