G+J Donates €160,000 For Earthquake Victims In Pakistan
Gruner + Jahr AG and its employees have thus far collected a total of €160,000 for the victims of the earthquake disaster in Pakistan. The employees have contributed about €30,000 through book and fashion sales, the collection boxes in Hamburg, Munich, and Cologne, or by bank transfer. The management board matched that amount, increasing the total to €60,000. Hence, together with the €100,000 that had already been promised, Gruner + Jahr has transferred a total of €160,000 in donations to Stiftung Stern.
The Stern Foundation supports the organizations "Doctors without Frontiers" and "Islamic Relief," which have had a commitment in Pakistan for years. The survivors of the earthquake disaster are still in grave danger there. Many are injured or homeless, and many farmers in the Kashmir region have lost their harvest. And winter is quickly descending upon the remote mountain region. The doctors are certain that without sufficient tents, food and clothing, many of the survivors will not be able to make it through the winter.
