Gunter Thielen Elected Chairman of Bertelsmann AG Supervisory Board
Gunter Thielen is the new Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Bertelsmann AG. The former Bertelsmann AG Chairman & CEO has sat on the supervisory body since Jan 1, 2008 and has now been elected its new chairman in a written ballot. Thielen succeeds Dieter Vogel, who stepped down at the end of last year after serving as Supervisory Board Chairman for a total of eleven years. The first supervisory board meeting chaired by Gunter Thielen is scheduled for January 25.
As part of the agreed-upon further separation of shareholder and corporate interests, Gunter Thielen left the Bertelsmann Verwaltungsgesellschaft (BVG), which unites all the voting rights in Bertelsmann AG, at the end of 2007. Gunter Thielen’s successor as BVG shareholder will be elected in due course by the BVG shareholder meeting.
Willi Pfannkuche, longtime works council chairman at Mohn Media and one of the four employee representatives on the Bertelsmann AG Supervisory Board, also left at the end of the year, having taken early retirement.
