Thorsten Strauß takes the helm of Corporate Communications at Bertelsmann AG
Thorsten Strauß (40), Senior Vice President Corporate Communications at Arvato AG, will take over as Executive Vice President Corporate Communications at Bertelsmann AG on April 1, 2008. He will report directly to Bertelsmann AG Chairman & CEO Hartmut Ostrowski.
Hartmut Ostrowski said: “I worked with Thorsten Strauß closely and successfully in his capacity as Head of Corporate Communications at Arvato AG. He built and sharpened Arvato’s B2B image, significantly increasing its brand recognition and internationalizing its public relations, and successfully and professionally communicated the rapid growth of the printing and services sector both internally and externally. He also set lasting priorities in corporate responsibility and built the Corporate Environmental Management Department. I am delighted that he will now put his extensive professional expertise at the service of Bertelsmann AG, and that I will continue to work closely with him in his new function. In 1989 Thorsten Strauß served as an intern at the daily newspaper “Die Glocke” in Oelde, Germany, where he eventually worked as an editor and later as a business editor. In the mid-1990s, he was appointed Editorial Manager of the Business Desk, a position he held for four years. In 1999 he left to join Arvato AG as Deputy Head Corporate Communications. Since April 1, 2002, Thorsten Strauß has served as Senior Vice President Corporate Communications at Arvato. As Head of the Corporate Communications Department, he has supervised press and public relations, marketing and branding, sponsorship, and corporate responsibility activities and environmental management worldwide.
