Arvato UK’s Public Sector Team Helps Local Hospice
Every year, Arvato UK’s Public Sector partnerships (in East Riding of Yorkshire, Sefton and Chesterfield) each select a charity of the year. Employees take a vote on a local worthy cause to focus fundraising efforts around.
At Arvato’s Chesterfield site, employees selected Ashgate Hospice as their charity for 2011. In all, a third of employees voted for the independent charity, which carries out palliative care work at the hospice and in the wider North Derbyshire community. Ashgate Hospice, which employs 130 staff and is supported by 200 volunteers, has to generate over more than half its income in donations every year to fund its provision of free care to patients.
So far, Arvato’s fundraisers have collected nearly £3,000. This total has been generated by a whole raft of charity activities from Valentine’s and spring cake bakes and an Easter raffle, to a dog walk, midnight stroll, fancy dress race and Snowdon mountain trek, along with several quiz nights.
Forthcoming fundraising events include a summer family barbecue arranged jointly with Chesterfield Borough Council employees, a sponsored walk around the stately home and gardens of nearby Chatsworth House, as well as running a tuck shop and clothing contributions.
