Thorsten Strauß Leaves Bertelsmann AG
Thorsten Strauß (44), Executive Vice President Corporate Communications at Bertelsmann AG until October 10, 2011, is leaving the company to embrace new professional challenges. The change comes against the backdrop of the CEO changeover, amicably and by mutual consent.
A business editor by training, Strauß joined Bertelsmann in 1999, and held various executive positions in the PR department of Bertelsmann’s Arvato AG before taking over the management of Bertelsmann AG Corporate Communications in 2008. Major communication events that occurred during his time in office included the crisis communications in 2009, the successful restructuring of the department, the company’s positively received 175th anniversary, two changeovers at CEO level, the founding of the Intajour (International Academy of Journalism), and the internationalization of the Group’s PR work in Asia.
Hartmut Ostrowski, Chairman & CEO of Bertelsmann AG, says: “On behalf of Bertelsmann, I would like personally thank Thorsten Strauß for our exceedingly fruitful collaboration – including and especially during tough times. Together with his team, he has rendered great services to Bertelsmann. His work received the highest accolades within and outside the Group and won numerous national and international awards. The company owes Thorsten a great debt of gratitude. I wish him much success and all the best for the future.”
Thorsten Strauß leaves the company with effect from December 31, 2011.
