G+J Christmas Bazaar: A Record Amount For Charity

Since 1978 the employees and the management board of Gruner + Jahr have been supporting initiatives in Hamburg with the proceeds from the traditional Christmas bazaar. Last Friday, G+J CEO Bernd Buchholz presented a total of 50,000 euro to four Hamburg projects and the Hamburg Donors' Parliament in the Gruner + Jahr Pressehaus. It was the highest amount ever raised through Gruner + Jahr’s annual Christmas bazaar. With the donations handed over on January 20, a total of 250,000 euro has been donated in the past six years alone.

The Hamburg employees of Gruner + Jahr raised the money during the Christmas party on December 8, 2011, which they organized. Four checks of more than 12,000 euro each go to the representatives of the following organizations: Baldiuns Box e.V., Ponton 1 e.V. / "Hundebande" project, AWO Landesverband Hamburg e.V. / "Aktion Augen auf" project, ASB Landesverband Hamburg e.V. / "Löwenhaus" project. The Hamburg Donations' Parliament receives 2,000 euro.

G+J CEO Bernd Buchholz said, "The commitment of many G+J employees has again made it possible to support four Hamburg institutions and the Hamburg Donations' Parliament with a total of 50,000 euro. I would like to thank all of the people who made this event possible and wish the sponsored institutions the best of success in their valuable work."
