WWF Praises Verlagsgruppe Random House
2011 was the International Year of Forests. The World Wide Fund For Nature (WWF), one of the world's biggest nature conservation organizations, accompanied the International Year of Forests in Germany with a large-scale forest campaign and celebrated its conclusion on February 22 in Berlin. Part of the campaign was a comprehensive corporate survey about the responsible and resource conserving use of wood and paper products: the Verlagsgruppe Random House was also interviewed, and now its commitment in this sector has been rewarded with the top position in the category "Book Publishers."
Of 31 surveyed book publishers, 16 participated with assessable results. The nature conservationists' summary: "Random House scored the highest number of points (…) The WWF praises the Verlagsgruppe Random House for the best evaluation in this sector and its commitment to forests." Alongside the publishers, companies in various sectors such as building and drug stores, interior design companies, mail order stores and food chain stores also participated.
