Fundacion Antena 3 Helps Children In Senegal
The Spanish Antena 3 foundation will support the work of the human rights organization AMREF Flying Doctors with a comprehensive campaign this fall. As in past years, the foundation of the Spanish group of channels has decided to once more shine the media spotlight on a relief organization that dedicates its work to the protection of the rights of children for International Children’s Rights Day on 20 November 2012. After a careful selection process, the foundation chose AMREF (African Medical and Research Foundation). Since 1957 the organization has been advocating better health care for people in eastern Africa. Its work focuses on AIDS education, combating malaria, water and hygiene projects as well as hospital and rescue services and disaster management.
Antena 3 will support an AMREF project that aims to improve the water supply and hygienic conditions in schools in Senegal. The goal of the nine-month long project is to reduce the spread of illnesses that are caused by polluted water. Following initial tests in two schools, the test phase will be expanded to include six additional schools.
The Fundacion Antena 3 will launch the campaign for this important relief project and use the media possibilities of Grupo Antena 3 around International Children’s Rights Day. The campaign and television shows intend to inform people in Spain about the problems in Senegal and to enlist them to support the work of AMREF. Antena 3 teams will be on site in Senegal to communicate an accurate impression of the situation to the audience.
The intensive selection process preceding the choice of AMREF guarantees that it is a development project that is worth the effort and support. Since June, the Antena 3 foundation had analyzed almost 40 relief organizations and their projects. Three made it onto the short list: AMREF, Intermon Oxfam and CESAL. After one week, AMREF was selected as the winner and, in addition to financial support, can now look forward to receiving enormous attention from the media and public.
