135 New Bertelsmann Apprentices Begin Their Professional Lives In Gütersloh

Last Wednesday, 135 young women and men began their professional lives at Bertelsmann. Their training began at one of the Gütersloh sites. Currently, Bertelsmann is training about 460 young people in the Gütersloh region.

Heribert Sangs, Head of Corporate Education, welcomed the new apprentices of Bertelsmann AG in the Corporate Center: “I am delighted that you have decided to train at our company.” Referring to the recently concluded Olympic Games in London, he compared the diversified training that the young people will receive in the coming years with an Olympic combined event. At its end, however, more than just three participants can expect a reward.

The range of professions at Bertelsmann is even broader this year; it includes future media technologists print, chefs, electronic engineers as well as future specialists for storage logistics. The new Bertelsmann apprentices go through commercial or industrial-technical training in 16 different occupational areas after a comprehensive introduction.

Once more, with 52 people, the industrial clerks form the biggest group of apprentices. In the IT environment, Bertelsmann AG welcomes twelve young IT specialists to this year’s the training, and other 15 students started the dual study course “Bachelor of Science” (information management) on 1 August. It has been realized in cooperation with the University of Economics and the b.i.b. International College in Paderborn since 2008.

Marlies Hanfgarn, Director Central HR at the Corporate Center, also welcomed the new apprentices. “A special time at a company with exciting business divisions and more than 100,000 employees worldwide lies ahead.” 2012 is not only a special year for the new apprentices but also for the Bertelsmann Berufskolleg vocational college, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year.
