G+J Celebrates 125 Years Of W.E. Saarbach
To celebrate its 125th corporate anniversary, the DPV subsidiary W.E. Saarbach invited employees, friends and partners to Cologne’s Wolkenburg last Wednesday. Matthias Klieber, Managing Director of Saarbach, took the guests through the eventful history of the company: “Through two world wars, persuasion, expropriation, economic crisis and economic miracle, the Saarbach family has established and expanded its company, always believing in the diversity and freedom of the press.”
W.E. Saarbach distributes over 3,000 newspaper and magazine brands of 250 suppliers and publishers from 50 countries – the most important countries of origin are Great Britain, the USA, Italy, Russia and France. The DPV subsidiary supplies about 450 station bookshops, 70 press wholesalers and some special customers such as bookstores and reading circles in Germany. Last year, more than 75 million copies were imported and delivered. In addition, W.E. Saarbach functions as a hub for the important and pan-European distribution of the portfolios of global suppliers such as the American ICS, “Vogue” and “Harvard Business Review”.
Olaf Conrad, Managing Director of DPV Deutscher Pressevertrieb, sums it up: “We can say for the international press in Germany and especially well-made target group specific special interest magazines: buyers are willing to pay high copy prices for well-made media. This is motivation for us to get the best out of the market.”
