Antena 3 And Cruz Roja’s Relief Campaign Raises 1,041,562 Euro
A relief campaign by Antena 3 and Cruz Roja, the Spanish Red Cross, raised 1,041,562 EUR to help families who have already lost their homes or are in danger of losing them due to the economic crisis in Spain. During the two-week campaign, the Antena 3 group of channels used all of its available channels to promote the project. On Monday, a special hotline with several celebrities answering the phones was set up for 16 hours. The charity gala “Tu cara más solidaria” drew more than 2.8 million viewers to their TV screens and was the crowning conclusion of the campaign, which was part of the program “Ahora Más Que Nunca” (“Now more than ever”) initiated by the Red Cross.
Now, 8,377 families, three times as many as the organizers of the campaign had defined as their goal, can receive help with the money raised. The Red Cross will use the money for people who were hit most by the crisis. It is used, for example, for psychological support, child care that enables parents to go to work, food and hygiene products as well as school materials.
Since the beginning of the campaign on 11 February, various formats on Antena 3 repeatedly called for donations. In the week from 18-24 February, for example, all of the winnings from the game shows “La Ruleta de la Suerte” and “Ahora caigo” were doubled; a special edition of “Atrapa un millón” was broadcast as well. The radio channels Onda Cero and Europa FM also participated by providing information during their programs.
