Mattel Supports Children’s Stroke Program – And Honors Liz Mohn With ‘One Of A Kind Barbie’
The world's largest toy manufacturer Mattel is honoring Liz Mohn with a unique Barbie edition for her "exemplary life of engaged commitment," Mattel announces in a press release. At the same time, the company is supporting the German Stroke Foundation established by Liz Mohn and will partner with her to promote projects in the Children’s Stroke program. The "Liz Mohn Barbie" especially created for the occasion was presented to the public last Friday at the Nuremberg Toy Fair.
At the presentation Liz Mohn said: "I would like to take this opportunity to let young girls know that it always pays to hold on to your dreams and pursue your goals with courage and joy. I also accept this One of a Kind Barbie as a sign of the friendship that begins today between Mattel and the German Stroke Foundation – a friendship that will benefit children affected by strokes."
An initial step has already been taken: children who have had strokes will receive Mattel toys via the German Stroke Foundation to give them a boost on their path back to independent living. "20 years of the German Stroke Foundation is a good occasion to take the time to honor a personality who has made a huge difference," said Mattel Germany CEO Stephan Patrick Tahy. "Given the hundreds of children having strokes each year, supporting the Foundation is very important for us in giving something back and making children's eyes light up."
In Germany, the toy manufacturer presents its "One of a Kind Barbie" dolls as a tribute to prominent women from different areas of society. Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden, the German Chancellor Angela Merkel, and last year the TV presenter Sylvie van der Vaart have all received personal Barbies.
