Climate Ambassadors Workshop At The Corporate Center In Gütersloh

For 22 Bertelsmann apprentices, "climate protection" is the order of the day today. Over the next day and a half, they will be participating in a Climate Ambassadors Workshop at the Gütersloh Corporate Center, organized by the "be green" team. The aim of the workshop is to make the trainees "climate ambassadors" and "be green" multipliers in the company and show them ways to promote the environmentally friendly use of resources at work and at home.

During the workshop the participants will learn a variety of techniques for becoming multipliers. For instance, they should be able to enduringly raise awareness among their co-workers and inspire them without sounding like they’re lecturing. The seminar is led by two trainers who support the students throughout the project implementation with ideas, tips and web-based coaching. Dr. Gerd Leipold, former Executive Director of Greenpeace International, begins the first seminar today with a lecture entitled: "Climate protection in action." Afterwards, the coaches will work with the trainees to develop specific climate change and environmental protection measures to encourage the careful use of resources in their professional and personal lives. Among other things, the discussions will focus on carbon footprints and the development of projects in the fields of mobility, housing and employment, as well as consumption and food.

"Climate change is one of the most important megatrends of our day," explains Katrin Gaertner, Head of Public Affairs and Director of the "be green" team. "In our workshop the trainees will discuss and develop ways for every individual to make a contribution to climate protection. I think it's excellent that the trainees will be able to help make Bertelsmann 'green’ right from the start of their career."
