Diversity through decentralism

Bertelsmann believes that local managing directors and employees, in a given country and a given market, know best what is good for their businesses and their staff – and also what is good for the community in which they build and run their operations. The principle of decentralization applies to our corporate responsibility efforts just as it does to our business actions: Bertelsmann’s divisions and companies decide on what subjects they focus their CR commitment - and the partners with whom they put their projects into action.
Community engagement is close to their respective core business in each case. For instance, RTL achieves great support for numerous social projects and initiatives through its RTL Spendenmarathon telethon. Random House is particularly dedicated to fostering literacy and reading, while Gruner + Jahr is committed to promoting quality journalism. For Arvato, paper is a key topic.
The numerous initiatives in our corporate divisions show how diverse our local efforts are, and which partners we support. We invite you to explore our project database and wish you happy browsing!
