RTL Enterprises Learning Games Console ''DVD-Kids'' Receives United Nations'' ''World Summit Award''
The educational games console "DVD-Kids" distributed by RTL Enterprises in Germany has already received a number of awards. However, none of them have the caliber of the trophy it has now received: the Icelandic manufacturer of the game console and cooperation partner of RTL Enterprises, 3-Plus, will receive the "World Summit Award" in November in Tunis within the framework of the World Summit of Information Society (WSIS) established by the United Nations. An international jury had the task to decide which products from the multimedia sector move high quality cultural, educational and scientific content into the digital age in an efficient and creative way. "DVD-Kids" was able to rise to the top together with five other products in the category "E-Entertainment" against competitors from 168 countries.
The global games market was watching the award with great interest according to RTL Enterprises, especially since the project was called into life and is supported by the WSIS. The jurors placed special importance on the cultural identity and diversity of the multimedia projects they had to assess. "DVD-Kids" had already received several awards: the electronic educational game console pocketed the "Ultimate Toy Award 2004" in the United States as Best Toy of the Year. Mattel declared the game console "Inventor Product of the Year" last year. RTL Enterprises delivered the game console to German stores in September.
