Thomas Buberl Appointed to Supervisory Board of Bertelsmann SE & Co. KGaA

Thomas Buberl (44), Chief Executive Officer of the French insurance group AXA, has been appointed to the Supervisory Board of Bertelsmann SE & Co. KGaA with immediate effect . Bertelsmann, the international media, services and education company, is thus adding an internationally experienced sales and digital expert to its supreme supervisory body. In his function at the helm of the AXA Group, Thomas Buberl is responsible for the strategic direction of a major global corporation. With revenues of around €100 billion and 165,000 employees, the listed company is one of the leading insurance groups in the world.

He has already amply demonstrated his strategic and entrepreneurial expertise in various positions. Thomas Buberl holds a Master of Economics from WHU Koblenz (Germany), an MBA from Lancaster University (U.K.), and a PhD in Economics from the University of St.Gallen (Switzerland). In 2008, he was nominated as a Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum. From 2000 to 2005, Buberl worked for the Boston Consulting Group as a consultant to the banking and insurance sector. He started his career at AXA Group in 2005.
