The documentary photographer Neal Preston spent four decades accompanying legendary musicians and bands, photographing them on- and off-stage. In the process, he created possibly the most extensive collection of rock‘n’roll photography. Bertelsmann, the Lightpower Collection and Kultur Räume Gütersloh presented 70 of Neal Preston’s iconic works to the public for a month, at Gütersloh Theater in autumn 2016.

"These photos convey the magic of music being performed live," said Bertelsmann CEO Thomas Rabe at the opening of the Neal Preston exhibition in Gütersloh, putting into words what most of the 250 guests were probably thinking. The opening featured live music and many exciting Rock'n'Roll stories.

"I’ve had countless photo shoots in studios, but photojournalism is my true love. You grab a camera and just start taking pictures,” says Neal Preston, describing his way of working with the camera. He has photographed practically every rock icon of the past few decades. Also included are pictures of the opening of the Neal Preston exhibition in Gütersloh.
