Penguin Random House India has announced a new externship program for its employees. The participants of the program can work at external companies for one week to gain new experiences and bring back new impetus relevant to their domain area. Penguin Random House India kickstarted the program with Pocket Aces.

Stepping into the outside world for one week and studying how another company works – while gaining new experiences, expanding knowledge and getting inspired for new ideas: this is the idea behind the Penguin Random House India’s new externship program.

As part of the program, employees of the publishing group in India can spend a week working at external companies and bring back new impetus relevant to their domain area. In cooperation with various companies, Penguin Random House India aims to expand the horizon of its employees and also host people from other companies and offer them insights into the publishing group’s work practices.

Aditi Kumar, Senior Vice President, People and Innovation, commented:  “Externship is an incredibly exciting format that would open up an array of learning opportunities for our people by providing them a platform to connect with creative partners outside of our company. The program aims to promote learning through exposure to different facets of work practices and encouraging an exchange of ideas and experiences. We are confident that with this opportunity people will get back re-energized, educated and connected and that the learning experience will go a long way in enhancing their creative and innovative potential.”

First Cooperation with Pocket Aces

Penguin Random House India kickstarted the program with the Pocket Aces, a leading digital entertainment company in India. Vaishnavi Singh, Senior Executive Digital at Penguin Random House, and Sudhanshu Roy, Senior Executive Marketing & Publicity, positively sum up their experience: “We’ve had an incredible experience at Pocket Aces, learning about digital content and marketing. Everyone here has been extremely welcoming and willing to teach us what they’re all experts at,” said Vaishnavi Singh. Sudhanshu Roy added: “It gave me an opportunity to experience the work environment of a completely different industry in the most fun way.”

Bharat Misra of Pocket Aces, who was a guest at Penguin Random House India, said: “I relished my time at Penguin Random House India, having worked in the editing, design and digital departments during my short time here. I especially enjoyed the conversations I had with people, and hope I added some value to their work.”
