The Corporate Center's "Lunch Connection" project came away with an award in the Employee Engagement category at this year's "HR Excellence Awards" at a gala event at the Ritz Carlton Hotel in Berlin. The "Bertelsmann Sponsorship Project" and "Talent Meets Bertelsmann – 1st International Edition" were also nominated and made the shortlist of four projects in the categories of Diversity Management and Career/Recruiting Event, respectively. The trade journal "Human Resources Manager" presented the "HR Excellence Awards" for the second time "in honor of outstanding HR projects characterized by exceptional innovation and creativity."

"Lunch Connection" is a project initiated by Bertelsmann Corporate Human Resources’ Department of Corporate Responsibility and Diversity Management to promote networking, exchange and ultimately collaboration between Bertelsmann employees – in the easiest possible way: two participating employees are randomly chosen, across hierarchical and departmental boundaries, to have lunch together on a "Lunch Connection" day.

"I'm pleased that once again one of our projects impressed the HR Excellence Awards judges this year. I also think it’s great that other Bertelsmann locations also want to participate in 'Lunch Connection' from 2014," comments Bertelsmann Group HR Director Immanuel Hermreck.

Directly before the presentation of the "HR Excellence Awards" a jury of 30 HR experts from leading German and international companies selected the winners from the 170 projects shortlisted from over 500 entries. A total of 50 winners from companies of all sizes were chosen in 25 categories.
