Bertelsmann Content Alliance Launches Mobility Theme Week

Today, the Bertelsmann Content Alliances is launching a theme week with a focus on mobility. Until Sunday, the brands and channels of G+J and Mediengruppe RTL will offer a look at trends and innovations and examine the question of what mobility will look like in the future and how it might be environmentally friendly and help slow the pace of climate change.

Following the topic “Food waste and sustainable eating”, the channels and brands of Gruner + Jahr and Mediengruppe RTL will now deal with the issue of mobility as part of a new theme week. More than 1.2 billion automobiles are currently on roads worldwide. Although they may be less of a burden on the environment and climate than in the past due to technological innovations, one thing is certain: along with the continuous rise in the number of automobiles, the need for alternative mobility concepts is increasing, as well. Under the slogan “Packen wir’s an – für eine bewegte Zukunft” (Let’s Do It – Mobile Future), the companies will offer a look at trends and innovations and examine the question of what mobility will look like in the future and how it might be environmentally friendly and help slow the pace of climate change.

Gruner + Jahr will examine the mobility of the future comprehensively and from various perspectives in print and online: for its cover story, “Stern” will announce a major two week test during which some readers exchanged their combustion engine cars for e-cars. “Geo” is launching a six-part sustainability series and will deal with the question of how climate friendly we are as we move through the world in the first part, also as the cover story. “Gala” investigates how celebrities get to their destinations, and the “Barbara” editors travel from Berlin to Basel on a night train. Brigitte.de and Gala.de focus on sustainable driving and traveling with different theme days. “Guido”, “Essen + Trinken”, “Geo Special”, “Geo Saison” and other brands will also educate people about the mega-trend “mobility”. In addition, the Audio Alliance has produced special episodes of the G+J podcasts “Stern nachgefragt” and “Capital – Stunde Null”, both available via Audio Now.

The channels and platforms of Mediengruppe RTL also deal with the diverse facets of environmentally friendly and sustainable mobility in Germany and Europe. At RTL, the theme week will have its highlight in the news and journal shows with an extraordinary experiment: during a drive from Hamburg to Mannheim, singer Wincent Weiss will compete with a fan who simultaneously drives from Dresden to Cologne. Both will travel the 570 kilometer long stretch from north to south respectively east to west in e-cars and will show how fit Germany really is with regard to e-mobility. The live event will also be broadcast on rtl.de and ntv.de. The Vox show “auto mobil” will also deal with e-mobility. In journals and reportages, NTV will report on topics such as urban transport and sustainable travel; the podcast “Wieder was gelernt” (Learned something again) is dedicated to the mobility of the future, and “ntv mobil”, a weekly mobility journal, has been recently launched. Cross-channel and -platform ad spots and image trailers with the claim “Packen wir’s an – für eine bewegte Zukunft” round off the theme week’s offers.
