Bertelsmann’s Annual Report Wins Multiple Awards
The company’s ‘calling card’ wins first place in ‘Media Company’ category at the Vision Awards
Way ahead in the medals table: The Bertelsmann Annual Report won multiple honors again this year, with experts awarding prizes to both the printed and the online versions in the relevant competitions.
As it did last year, Bertelsmann’s report celebrated a double success at the League of American Communications Professionals (LACP) Vision Awards, for which more than
1,000 candidates from over 25 countries compete. The online report won the LACP Platinum award, and the printed report won a gold medal. The publication came fifth in the Top 100 reports from around the world, and scored first place in the Media Company category.
The Annual Report also won two Stevie Awards, considered the “Oscars of the annual report world,” with the printed and the online versions each winning bronze.
“We are delighted about the awards from the professional public. The Annual Report is every company’s calling card,” said Karin Schlautmann, Executive Vice President Corporate Communications of Bertelsmann. “The content of this year’s report focused on explaining our new corporate structure, the ‘new Bertelsmann’. The awards confirm that we provided an informative, clear and incisive showcase for our strategic progress on this path, both online and offline. My thanks go to all my colleagues who were involved in this project.”
This year, the Annual Report itself was divided into two separate booklets for the first time – a corporate brochure and a financial report, bundled in a slipcase. The corporate brochure explains the genesis of Bertelsmann’s new structure; the financial section contains a transparent and clearly structured report on the 2015 financial results.
A unique video installation consisting of various glass steles was also developed to visualize this year’s motto, with each stele embodying one of the Group’s eight divisions. The installation was exhibited at various company sites.
The new corporate structure can also be experienced in another video animation that was additionally implemented as a Virtual Reality Experience (www.bertelsmann.de/virtualreality ) and can be played on VR goggles.
As every year, Bertelsmann Corporate Communications also published the report as an app : Like the online report, the app contains a variety of extras such as video clips, and numerous links in addition to the complete content from the printed version.
