Fortune Lists Bertelsmann as One of World’s Most Admired Entertainment Companies

‘World's Most Admired Companies’ ranking confirms Bertelsmann's high level of competitiveness and social responsibility

Karin Schlautmann, Executive Vice President Corporate Communications of Bertelsmann

Bertelsmann is delighted to officially be one of the world's most admired companies in the entertainment industry. The 2017 list of “The World's Most Admired Companies,” published by the U.S. magazine Fortune and regarded as the world's most prestigious company rankings, reviewed a total of 680 high-turnover companies from 51 industries in 28 countries. After Bertelsmann was one of the top-ranked entertainment companies last year, the international media, services and education company has now risen into the top echelons of the “Most Admired Companies” ranking. Bertelsmann improved its scores in nearly all of the individual categories, and did particularly well in “global competitiveness” and “social responsibility.” Bertelsmann is also the only European company included in the Most Admired Companies in the entertainment sector.

Karin Schlautmann, Head of Corporate Communications at Bertelsmann, commented: “We are delighted by this recognition and at the same time regard it as a motivation to keep up our efforts. It reflects the successful internationalization of our company and our communications – and provides impressive proof that Bertelsmann plays in the top global league of media companies.”

Fortune had asked senior executives, directors, and analysts to rate the top companies in their industry based on nine criteria, including “quality of management,” “innovation,” “quality of products/services,” “use of corporate assets,” “people management,” as well as the aforementioned “global competitiveness” and “social responsibility.”
