RTL+ Launches New ‘RTL+ Musik’ App

Thanks to a cooperation with Deezer, RTL+ now offers music streaming in addition to series and movies. The RTL+ Musik app delivers more than 90 million songs and more than 100 radio streams. RTL Deutschland is gradually expanding RTL+ into a cross-genre entertainment offering that includes podcasts, audiobooks, and digital premium magazines.

The expansion of the fast-growing RTL+ streaming service into a cross-genre entertainment platform has begun: Today marks the launch of the RTL+ Musik app. In addition to the top-class video offer, the new app also gives RTL+ users access to more than 90 million songs, i.e. all the catalogs and artists currently on the music market. The starting price for this unique bundle comprising videos and music is €9.99 per month in the ‘RTL+ Max tariff’ (instead of €12.99, the monthly price starting from the seventh month).

With more than 3.4 million paying subscribers, RTL+ is the leading German streaming service. As already announced late last year, RTL+ is successively being expanded into a complete cross-media offer, with podcasts, audiobooks and premium digital magazines gradually being added to the service.

The expansion starts today, Wednesday (Aug 17, 2022) with the music offer. RTL+ has entered into an – exclusive for the German market – partnership with Deezer, one of the world’s leading music streaming services. RTL+ Musik app users have access to the full product range offered by Deezer, plus all new weekly releases. Additionally, more than 5,000 playlists curated by music editors for every mood and every genre are available for streaming – and more than 100 radio streams. This offer is being continuously expanded, e.g. with the soundtracks of beloved series, shows, and reality formats.

Popular features ensure a personalized, convenient, and easy use of the RTL+ Musik app: the download and library function ‘My content’; ‘Trackmix’, which plays other suitable songs based on a given track; and ‘Daily Mixes’, a playlist that adapts to a user’s personal listening behavior and filters in new listening suggestions alongside their favorite songs. Going forward, further features will be added such as the display of song lyrics and the playlist importer. The latter enables users to easily import their personal playlists from other music streaming services into RTL+ Musik.

Users who choose the RTL+ Max tariff will continue to have access, in addition to the comprehensive music portfolio, to the diverse and high-quality video entertainment platform – from fiction to reality and from documentaries to live sport. In the second half of 2022, the offer will be expanded by the addition of 37 new originals, including fiction highlights such “Das Haus der Träume” (The Dream House) and the second series of “Sisi,” and a documentary on the comeback of the Schalke 04 soccer club.

According to a recent representative survey commissioned by RTL+ and conducted by the market research company Forsa, younger users in particular seek an attractively priced and varied offer. 76 percent of respondents between the ages of 14 and 49 see a discounted combination offer as attractive or very attractive. The survey also indicates that music is the most-used content category after video.
