From 2015 until 2017, and in 2019 as a movie, the Vox series “Club der roten Bänder” told the story of the friendship that develops between teenage patients in a fictional hospital. As part of a cooperation, the nonprofit organization DKMS (formerly the German Marrow Donor Registry) was featured in the plot in 2016. Additionally, a TV spot for DKMS with patient Rinah was broadcast during the commercial break, encouraging viewers to register as stem cell donors: At the time, more than 6,000 people registered. As Vox announced in an Instagram post, 31 people have since donated stem cells and were able to help sick people around the world.
