UFA Academy Sets A Precedent

Subject: Society
Country: Germany
Category: Project

Given the lack of skilled labor, UFA initiated an entrance program together with UFA Academy  in February 2022, which specifically targets career changers with various experiences. After two successful years, the program will now be transferred to the Media Academy Berlin-Brandenburg and will launch in the spring according to UFA. The skilled labor initiative supported by several other partners from the media industry aims to offer career changers and re-entrants the opportunity to explore the diversity of the media professions practically and theoretically to find a successful entry into the industry. The Media Academy addresses people in the 21+ age group in Berlin and Brandenburg, irrespective of their previous professional career. The participating production companies receive a labor cost subsidy and are supported by a mentoring program. “After the success of the UFA Academy, the Media Academy is a great example of what can be achieved if government, private businesses and education institutes meet at eye level and everybody pulls together with great commitment and the possibilities each party has,” said UFA CEO Joachim Kosack. The Media Academy Berlin-Brandenburg is sponsored by the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Labor and Energy of the State of Brandenburg, the State of Berlin, and the Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg. The continuing education network is based at the Erich Pommer Institute (EPI) and is also supported by the Federal Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs (BMAS) as part of the federal program “Development of continuing education networks”. Applications for the first round starting in May 2024 can be submitted now through February 23, 2024 online at https://mediaacademy-bb.de/.
