Bertelsmann to Host Live Stream of European Debate with George Soros, Herman Van Rompuy and Pierre Moscovici

On Monday June 30, 2014 from approximately 5:45 PM, Bertelsmann will live stream a debate on the future of Europe, to which the company has invited the celebrated investor and author George Soros, European Council President Herman Van Rompuy, and former French Finance Minister Pierre Moscovici.

The occasion for the event in Brussels is the publication of George Soros’ book „Tragedy of the European Union: Disintegration or Revival?“ (“George Soros im Gespräch mit Gregor Peter Schmitz: Wetten auf Europa – Warum Deutschland den Euro retten muss, um sich selbst zu retten“). Gregor Peter Schmitz, EU correspondent for Der Spiegel magazine in Brussels and co-author of the book, which is published in Germany as a Spiegel book by the Bertelsmann subsidiary DVA, will moderate the discussion. The panel session will be the first public political debate after this week’s EU summit in Brussels to elect the new Commission President. Bertelsmann expects more than a thousand guests, including a number of personages from politics, business, the cultural scene and society.  The live stream on the Bertelsmann homepage is expected to run until about 7:30 PM, after which it will be available as a video.
