RTL Deutschland’s “Stern” magazine once again recognized outstanding works in journalism with the renowned “Stern Prize” on Tuesday evening in Hamburg. The presentation gala honored contributions from all media genres that convinced with their relevance, research power and narrative quality last year. The jury presented awards in the five categories “Documentary”, “Local”, “Photo Story of the Year”, “Investigation”, and “Egon Erwin Kisch Prize” (written reportage). “Stern” Editor-in-Chief Gregor Peter Schmitz and RTL journalist Pinar Ataly hosted the gala.
Carsten Brosda, Senator of the Hamburg Ministry of Culture and Media, welcomed the guests. This year’s award winners are Katrin Wegner (“Akutstation Psychiatrie”, ARD Mediathek, “Documentary” category); Erik Westermann (“Im Bann des Opfers. Anatomie eines Justizirrtums”, „Braunschweiger Zeitung“ / research cooperation with “Der Spiegel”, “Local” category); Emile Ducke (“Die Schatten des Sieges”, “Die Zeit”, “Photo Story of the Year” category); Nicole Rosenbach (“Der Kinderpsychiater – Die Macht des Dr. Winterhoff”, ARD Mediathek, “Investigation” category), and Philipp Daum (“Du bist wie ein Vater für mich.
