RTL Deutschland and the German supermarket chain Edeka are combining their reach and capabilities to create a highly attractive customer experience. According to a joint statement, the goal is to connect shopping with entertainment and reward customer loyalty. Effective immediately, customers can receive one month of the “RTL+ Basic” plan free with their purchases in the Edeka app and then continue at a permanently discounted monthly price (50% off). During special promotional periods, the streaming service may even be available free of charge. A high-impact campaign, including a TV spot, showcases the benefit.

How shopping unlocks a streaming subscription
Registered users of the Edeka app receive one free month of “RTL+ Basic” with purchases of €25 or more. After that, they can continue to save: if app users spend at least €1 per month at Edeka, they receive a 50% monthly discount on their “RTL+ Basic” plan (€2.99 instead of €5.99). During special promotional periods, discounts of up to 100% are available. Customers simply register with RTL+ via the Edeka app after their purchase to activate the offer. The campaign theme “Shop first, then stream” connects both worlds and makes the advantage immediately visible to consumers.
Two strong brands
With around 6,400 grocery stores and millions of customers every day, Edeka brings enormous reach to the partnership. RTL Deutschland, in turn, offers premium entertainment from a single source, with more than seven million subscribers to RTL+, spanning fiction, shows, and reality programming, as well as documentaries and exclusive originals. The accompanying campaign will be rolled out across all relevant Edeka and RTL channels, including TV, social media, in-store screens, flyers, and digital platforms.
