Following the successful merger of RTL Deutschland and Sky Deutschland, RTL Deutschland is reorganizing its content division under the leadership of Chief Content Officer and Managing Director Inga Leschek. According to the company, the new structure, experienced leadership team, and combined content expertise will support further growth and strengthen RTL Deutschland’s position as the leading entertainment company in the German-speaking market.
Leadership team with extensive experience
Going forward, Inga Leschek will oversee Channels, Windowing & Planning, Sport, Entertainment & Shows, Fiction, RTL Studios, Content Integration, and Production Management. All members of the leadership team bring many years of experience and deep expertise in their respective areas.
Within the new content organization, Oliver Schablitzki, Executive Vice President Channels, Windowing & Planning, will be responsible for strategic and operational programming as well as the cross-platform management and performance analysis of all RTL Deutschland and Sky content. His division will oversee entertainment, sports, and fiction programming across all distribution channels – from free TV, streaming, and pay TV to YouTube and other platforms. The goal is to deploy content in the most effective way possible to maximize reach, advertising revenues, and subscriber growth.
The new structure also brings together strategic programming under Florian Hellenkamp, Head of Strategic Programming, operational planning under Barbara Middeldorf, Head of Operational Programming, and streaming activities under Josephine Kittner, Senior Vice President Content Strategy, Discovery & Analytics. In particular, Josephine Kittner and Florian Hellenkamp will play a central role in further integrating linear and non-linear viewing and driving that effort forward in close cooperation with the Content Windowing and Multichannel teams.
As Senior Vice President Production Management, Greta Scheuermann will oversee production processes across the organization and ensure the efficient use of content budgets across all genres and platforms.
Markus Küttner, Executive Vice President Entertainment & Shows, will also assume responsibility for RTL Deutschland’s daily series. As part of this reorganization, Christiane Gosh, Head of Daily Series, will report to him. Responsibility for RTL Deutschland’s in-house fiction productions will remain with Hauke Bartel, Senior Vice President Fiction. As Managing Director of RTL Studios, Thomas Goseberg will continue to lead the company’s central production unit.
Further integration of the content organization will be driven by Dániel Koren, Senior Vice President Content Integration. Together with his team, he will oversee collaboration across the different content teams, support the integration of RTL Deutschland and Sky Deutschland content activities, manage key commercial initiatives between the editorial teams and Ad Alliance, and coordinate special editorial projects for the content division. He will also be responsible for Content Research & Analytics, which provides data-driven insights into audiences and performance to support content and business decisions. Under the new organization, the Sports division will be led by Frank Robens, Executive Vice President Sport. As part of the merger with Sky Deutschland, RTL Deutschland has already announced a comprehensive restructuring of this area.
‘The opportunities created by this new structure are enormous’
According to RTL Deutschland, the new organization is designed to create the foundation for even closer integration of the creative and programming strengths of RTL and Sky. The goal is to develop content even more consistently from the audience’s perspective, distribute it seamlessly across platforms, and further strengthen the company’s leading position in entertainment, sports, and fiction.
“The opportunities created by this new structure are enormous,” said Inga Leschek, Chief Content Officer of RTL Deutschland. “We want to actively shape the future of entertainment, sports, and storytelling – and extend our lead. By combining the strengths of RTL and Sky, we are creating a content powerhouse unlike any other in Germany. We are bringing together outstanding creativity, sports expertise, and production know-how under one roof. At the same time, we are building on some of the strongest brands, most successful content, and most popular talent in the German-speaking world – a combination unlike any other. This allows us to make decisions faster, invest more boldly, and develop content that inspires millions of people. Our ambition is clear: We want to remain the leading destination for entertainment, sports, and compelling stories – and we now have everything in place to achieve that.”
