RTL, NTV, and Sky are following Germany’s national team throughout the 2026 FIFA World Cup with extensive coverage across television, digital platforms, podcasts, and social media. Fans can follow every goal, major development, and headline across television, digital platforms, social media, podcasts, and live reporting from the tournament. News and magazine programs on RTL and NTV, content on ntv.de, RTL Sport’s social media channels, several RTL Deutschland podcasts, and Sky Deutschland’s reporting combine to create a multimedia World Cup experience for fans.
“Football fans are at the center of everything we do,” said Ivo Hrastic of the RTL Sports editorial team. “That’s why RTL and NTV provide the right content at the right time, no matter which platform or device they choose. Viewers and users can look forward to every World Cup goal, compelling stories, and expert analysis. Our journalistic coverage turns the FIFA World Cup into a multimedia information experience for football fans across Germany – free of charge.”
Morning highlights
World Cup reporters Felix Görner and Jonas Gerdes will report from the German Football Association (DFB) team headquarters in Chicago. They will follow the national team and its supporters throughout the tournament, reporting from Germany’s base camp as well as match venues across the US, Canada, and Mexico. Analysts Lothar Matthäus and Patrick Helmes will complement the on-the-ground reporting. While the reporting team focuses primarily on events on the pitch, colleagues at RTL’s New York studio will provide political, cultural, and social context from the host countries.
Every morning at 6 a.m., RTL and NTV will begin the day with “Deutschland am Morgen,” featuring highlights and goals from every match. Because many matches kick off late at night in Germany, the program brings fans all the key moments in time for breakfast.
Beginning with the opening match on June 11, listeners can also follow the tournament through the new “NTV Sport – Der WM-Podcast,” a daily audio briefing hosted by Kevin Schulte. Alongside overnight developments, results, key reactions, and updates from reporters on the ground, the podcast will spotlight unusual and memorable stories from the tournament. One of the first episodes introduces goalkeeper Josue Duverger, who not only represents Haiti at the World Cup but also plays for German fifth-division club FC Cosmos Koblenz.
Around the clock, ntv.de will provide news, analysis, and background reporting on the 2026 FIFA World Cup. RTL Sport will complement that reporting across its social media channels. Immediately after Germany’s matches, Julius Fellermann and Jannis Sünnemann will go live on Instagram with instant reactions and first analysis featuring well-known guests from the football world. Early guests included Sky transfer expert Florian Plettenberg and NTV sports presenter Timo Latsch following Germany’s friendly against the United States on June 6.
Daily updates from Sky Deutschland
Sky Deutschland will also provide extensive reporting from the United States. Its reporters are already covering the German team’s training camp and will continue to deliver updates throughout the tournament. Once the tournament gets underway, “Matchday” will air twice a day with 30-minute World Cup updates beginning at 12 p.m. and 2 p.m. Another daily program, “Road to New York,” airs at 5 p.m., followed by “Guten Abend Fans” at 6 p.m. Sky Sport News will typically conclude its World Cup programming at 1 a.m. and will also broadcast all DFB press conferences live.
In addition to his podcast appearances on RTL, Florian Plettenberg will report from the tournament alongside Patrick Berger and Kerry Hau. The trio will provide daily updates from the DFB base camp in Winston-Salem and from Germany’s match venues. Fans can keep up with all the latest developments surrounding the tournament and Julian Nagelsmann’s team. Sky Sport will also report from fan events in Germany and Mallorca, feature highlights from each matchday, provide analysis from guests including Mirko Slomka, Robin Dutt, and Markus Babbel, and showcase fan reactions across its programming.
Toggo offers dedicated coverage for children
Toggo, the children’s programming brand of family broadcaster Super RTL for six- to 13-year-olds, has developed a World Cup offering specifically for younger audiences, many of whom will miss the matches because of the late kick-off times. The “Toggo Liga” podcast will focus in particular on Germany’s matches the following day. Episodes will be released each afternoon in the Toggo app, on YouTube, and on RTL+.
The Toggo app will also offer exclusive 60-second highlights from nearly every World Cup match. The clips feature the best moments and goals, with commentary from hosts Sonja and Danyal. In addition, Toggo will cover the tournament through extensive social media content on YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, and within the app. The lineup includes the “World Cup Oracle” featuring dog Shani, comedy sketches by creator Nick, challenge videos, and child-friendly background reports and analysis produced in collaboration with the RTL Sports team.
Toggo Radio will also follow the World Cup every day. Key developments and Germany’s matches will be featured in Toggo News. Following selected matches, the hosts of “Toggo Liga” will discuss the highlights in the radio studio. Additional programming includes “Wissenskicks,” featuring interesting facts about participating countries, the Toggo World Cup song, surveys of young listeners, and lighthearted takes on unusual moments from the tournament.
