Christoph Mohn Becomes New Speaker of the Family At Bertelsmann Verwaltungsgesellschaft
- Liz Mohn hands over the role of the Speaker of the Family to her son and remains a member of Bertelsmann Verwaltungsgesellschaft
- Christoph Mohn remains Chairman of the Bertelsmann Supervisory Board
Christoph Mohn, Chairman of the Bertelsmann Supervisory Board and member of the Steering Committee of Bertelsmann Verwaltungsgesellschaft mbH (BVG), will become the new Speaker of the Family and Chairman of the BVG Steering Committee, effective June 21, 2021. He takes over from Liz Mohn, who remains a member of the BVG Steering Committee and the Bertelsmann Supervisory Board. Liz Mohn had taken on the role of the Speaker of the Family in 2002.
BVG is tasked with safeguarding the continuity of management at the Bertelsmann media, services and education group and with representing the shareholder interests of the non-profit Bertelsmann Stiftung and the Mohn family. BVG controls 100 percent of the voting rights at the Annual General Meeting of Bertelsmann SE & Co. KGaA, which are to be exercised in this spirit. In addition, BVG controls all voting rights at the Annual General Meeting of Bertelsmann Management SE and sets the parameters for its strategy development. The committee was installed by Bertelsmann's post-war founder Reinhard Mohn and works across generations.
The BVG Steering Committee is comprised of three members of the Mohn owning family and three external members. Its current members are:

Bertelsmann SE & Co. KGaA is an unlisted partnership limited by shares. 80.9 percent of the capital shares in Bertelsmann SE & Co. KGaA are held indirectly by foundations (Bertelsmann Stiftung, Reinhard Mohn Stiftung, BVG-Stiftung), and 19.1 percent are directly owned by the Mohn family.
