How AI is changing the world of film and TV production
At the “AI for Creatives – Video Production Day,” participants gained insights into practical applications and developments.
At the “AI for Creatives – Video Production Day 2025” in Berlin, around 350 participants from the international Bertelsmann world and partner companies such as Google, Adobe, and Open AI discussed the current and future use of artificial intelligence (AI) in film and TV production. The Video Production Day was organized jointly by RTL Group, Fremantle, and the Bertelsmann AI Hub, which coordinates the exchange of information and key areas of AI projects within the company and promotes synergies between businesses. The conference showed how AI not only speeds up production processes and makes them more efficient, but also supports creative processes – from initial idea development to post-production and marketing. It was particularly emphasized that AI does not serve as a replacement for creative people, but rather relieves them of automated tasks and enables new impulses.
Numerous practical examples, such as those from RTL Studios, Fremantle, and UFA, illustrated how AI is already being used today in idea generation, the creation of realistic videos and animations, and even voice cloning. Tools such as Sora from Open AI, Veo2 from Google, and Camera to Cloud from Adobe significantly expand the possibilities in video production – from precise text-to-video conversion to AI-supported post-processing of complex scenes. Human evaluation remains central to ensuring quality, impact, and target group orientation.
AI also offers new potential in content marketing, as demonstrated by Runway, Eleven Labs, and RTL Deutschland: Whether trailers, thumbnails, or immersive online videos, AI enables content to be created faster, cheaper, and yet more creatively. The Video Production Day ended with a look at the near future of hyper-personalized media content and an award ceremony for an AI-generated music video. Bertelsmann concluded by emphasizing the importance of responsible AI use, in which technology and human creativity go hand in hand.
