No Angels Make A Comeback With New Version Of Their Debut Single

The No Angels have returned with a new version of their debut single. The most successful girl band in German chart history released a new “Celebration Version” recording of “Daylight In Your Eyes” via BMG to coincide with the song’s 20th anniversary. RTL has been reporting exclusively on it.

At the end of November last year, BMG was able to announce the return of the No Angels, among others, to the world of digital music. BMG had previously acquired the Cheyenne Records catalog, which includes more than 600 master recordings by German bands and solo artists who emerged from the TV talent show “Popstars” between the years 2000 and 2010. In addition to No Angels, it also comprises multi-platinum-selling bands such as Bro’Sis, Overground, Nu Pagadi, Preluders, Monrose, Queensberry, Room 2012, Some & Any, and La Vive. But now it gets even better: To mark the song’s 20th anniversary and nearly seven years after No Angels broke up for the second time, four of the five founding members, Sandy Mölling, Lucy Diakovska, Jessica Wahls and Nadja Benaissa, have reunited and recorded a new “Celebration Version” of their debut hit “Daylight In Your Eyes” – which was recently released via BMG. The comeback by the most successful girl band in German chart history and continental Europe has also been a big topic on RTL’s TV channels over the past few days. Beyond this, the new song is also getting airplay on RTL Radio Deutschland stations such as 104.6 RTL, RTL Radio – Deutschlands Hit-Radio, 105’5 Spreeradio, Radio Hamburg, 89.0 RTL, Antenne Niedersachsen, and Radio NRW.

Exclusive world premiere on RTL

“Daylight In Your Eyes” marks the cornerstone of an unprecedented success story in German music history: Having spent 188 weeks in the German singles charts and 164 weeks in the German album charts, the No Angels were and still are Germany’s most frequently charted female band in the hit lists – their singles alone spent 16 weeks at #1. On the international stage, only the Sugababes and Bananarama can match them in this category. According to BMG, the No Angels have recorded a total of three number-one albums, containing four #1 hits – besides “Daylight In Your Eyes,” these are “There Must Be An Angel,” “Something About Us” and “No Angel (It’s All In Your Mind)” – and sold more than five million albums.

To mark the 20th anniversary of the premiere of “Daylight In Your Eyes,” the No Angels have now unveiled a fresh new version of their hit on RTL. The TV show “Guten Morgen Deutschland” kicked things off early on Friday morning: In an exclusive world premiere, viewers were able to listen to the newly reissued single for the first time together with the RTL early-morning magazine presenter duo, Angela Finger-Erben and Wolfram Kons – so they not only experienced what may be the biggest musical surprise of the year, but also started the day with a familiar catchy tune. In their first joint TV appearance after more than ten years, on “RTL Exclusiv Weekend” late Sunday afternoon, the quartet revealed how the girl group reunion came about, what this song means to them and what their plans are for 2021. In the one-hour weekend edition of the celebrity magazine, Frauke Ludowig met the four women – Vanessa Petruo, the fifth founding member, no longer appears in public – found out what finally brought the band back together after two split-ups, and shed light on the background to their renewed reunion. Following the show with Frauke Ludowig, the four singers answered questions from their fan community in an interactive livestream chat on www.rtl.de
