Two Partners, One Goal: Sustainability In The Music Industry
Clio Award for Sustainable Music Production: Sonopress visits Warner Music Group in London.
On the occasion of their joint recognition with the prestigious Clio Award in Gold, Sven Deutschmann, Managing Director at Sonopress, and Jörg Pollmeyer, Senior Vice President Sales at Sonopress, visited the London office of Warner Music Group (WMG) at the end of June. They presented the golden Clio trophy to the WMG team and honored the close and successful cooperation for the two companies’ joint and award-winning project “Making Coldplay’s new album Moon Music as sustainable as possible”.
The focus of the meeting was the shared joy over the Clio Award in the category “Music/Design & Sustainability/Innovation & Marketing,” which was awarded for the pioneering project. The award honors the joint project of Sonopress and Warner Music Group, which had the goal to drastically reduce the ecological footprint of the successful Coldplay album’s production without compromising on quality and sound. The result: a 100% recyclable long-playing record that uses a sustainable manufacturing process and innovative recycled materials (PET).
Sustainability as a joint mission
“With this project we have proven that the highest sound quality and ecological responsibility are not mutually exclusive,” emphasized Sven Deutschmann in London. “The personal exchange with our partner at Warner Music Group once again highlighted how much mutual trust, pioneering spirit, and shared determination are involved in this cooperation.” Miriam Lessar, Vice President, Global Release Management, Warner Music International, added: “The Clio Award symbolizes what is possible when creativity and technology join forces for a sustainable future. We are incredibly proud to have taken this journey together with Sonopress, and we wouldn’t have made it without Coldplay.”

The Clio Awards are among the most coveted international prizes in the creative industry and annually recognize outstanding work in categories such as music, entertainment, and advertising. Sonopress and Warner Music Group are in illustrious company with their project: This year’s Gold winners include Amazon Prime, Billboard Arabia, and Spotify.
With the presentation of the award in the heart of London, Sonopress and Warner Music are sending a clear signal for cross-industry collaboration and sustainable innovation to the industry. “We look forward to further intensifying this partnership and to setting new standards in environmentally friendly media production together,” Sven Deutschmann concluded.
