The company restaurant at the Corporate Center in Gütersloh and the Work Café at Bertelsmann Stiftung, which is located opposite the Corporate Center, have been awarded the internationally recognized Green Sign Institute’s “Green Sign” sustainability certificate. Both businesses were certified for the first time and received an overall rating of 70 percent (Corporate Center) and 69 percent (Bertelsmann Stiftung’s Work Café). The company restaurant at the Corporate Center also received the “Greentable” seal for sustainable gastronomy.

Two more businesses awarded

“We are very pleased that two more of our businesses have been awarded the ‘Green Sign’ label and that the Corporate Center has also received the ‘Greentable’ seal,” said Kay-Christian Dubbert, Head of Brand Communications and Sustainability Officer at Viveno Group, the umbrella organization for Bertelsmann’s hotel and restaurant businesses. “The certifications were part of our Viveno sustainability initiative and follow the certification of Parkhotel Gütersloh last year. They confirm our successful efforts to achieve sustainable business practices in various forms.”

The Green Sign Institute’s checks certify that the criteria of the “Standard Green Sign Gastro” regarding ecological, economic, and social business management are met in a total of ten categories, including management and communication, use of energy and water, regionality and transport, and social responsibility. The prerequisite for the “Greentable” seal for sustainable gastronomy is the proven implementation of at least six of twelve sustainability criteria, such as the selection of vegetarian and vegan dishes, use of regional and seasonal products, and the use of predominantly fresh and minimally processed foods.
