TV chef Tim Mälzer and actor André Dietz return to the “Herbstresidenz” at the end of March. This is a very special Caritas nursing home in Bernkastel-Kues, Rhineland-Palatinate: people with disabilities work alongside the elderly residents there and lovingly care for them. As part of the project, they can also complete a certified training program to become nursing assistants, helping them find long-term employment. The first episode of the TV series aired last year; now Mälzer and Dietz are reuniting with the residents and trainees at the facility. Vox will air the visit on Wednesday, March 25, starting at 8:15 p.m. The episode will also be available on RTL+ one week prior.
In the new episode, the two celebrities take stock: Were they actually able to make a lasting difference in the seniors’ lives? What has become of the trainees at the “Herbstresidenz”? And have the ideas from the project inspired people outside the facility as well? Vox embarks on a journey across Germany to find answers to these questions.
TV Award and Grimme Prize Nomination
Viewers will also get to see some fan favorites from the first episode. They’ll visit Jordan, who’s currently working at a nursery; they’ll accompany Timon, who works at a nursing home on the Moselle, to a film set; and they’ll find out if Louis has managed to make the leap to an independent life. The seniors are also in the spotlight: their daily lives have changed noticeably, and for caregiver Gabi, a big dream is coming true. Additionally, home director Manfred Kappes and trainee Sarah Hallwachs set off on a special mission to southern Germany.
The first season of “Herbstresidenz” was a huge success. In addition to winning over audiences, the Vox series has won numerous awards, including the German Television Award in the “Best Factual Entertainment” category. Furthermore, the two show hosts are nominated for the Grimme Award in the “Entertainment” category, with the winners set to be announced later this month.
