Riverty has been recognized with a certificate for its 10 years of cooperation with the nonprofit IT refurbishing company AfB. With the certificate, AfB is honoring the longstanding and successful cooperation in sustainable IT partnership. Bertelsmann employees can purchase refurbished IT devices at a discount from AfB.
Riverty has been working with the recognized inclusive company AfB – short for “Arbeit für Menschen mit Behinderung” (work for people with disabilities) – since 2015. Europe’s largest nonprofit IT company of its kind refurbishes and resells used hardware. The certified data deletion is carried out in line with GDPR compliant and auditable processes, ensuring maximum data security. With the partnership, Riverty aims to contribute to conserving valuable resources, reduce CO2 emissions, and promote inclusive jobs. Since the beginning of the cooperation, Riverty has handed over more than 11,000 IT and mobile devices to AfB, according to the company. 74 percent of these devices were refurbished and resold – and therefore given a second life. The remaining devices were recycled professionally and in an environmentally manner.
Laptops for the Ivory Coast
Melina Schöneberg, Corporate Responsibility Expert at Riverty, said: “Over the past few years, AfB has not only resold or recycled our IT devices; together, we also organized laptop donations to support nonprofit organizations.” In 2023, for example, laptops were donated to Ivory Coast to support the fight against deforestation in West Africa. “For us at Riverty, sustainability is not a trend but lived responsibility – in our daily actions and our partnerships,” said Christian Ruach, Digital Workplace Lead at Riverty. “The cooperation with AfB shows that economic success and contribution to society can go hand in hand.”
The cooperation partners of AfB include major companies, banks, insurance companies, and public institutions across Europe. Bertelsmann’s Corporate Center already celebrated the tenth anniversary of its partnership in 2023, and Arvato Systems followed suit in January of this year.
