Inclusion

At Bertelsmann, inclusion means creating a work environment shaped by trust and psychological safety – one in which our employees can contribute their perspectives, realize their potential, and help drive the company’s success. Inclusion fosters a culture of diversity, fairness, appreciation, and collaboration, and thus forms the foundation for “Creativity,” one of Bertelsmann’s two core values.
Diversity has always been the foundation of creativity and entrepreneurship at Bertelsmann. This conviction is enshrined in the Bertelsmann Essentials and the Code of Conduct and guides our actions.

Our approach

Überlagerte blaue Linien und transparente Formen bilden ein abstraktes geometrisches Muster vor hellem Hintergrund.

Promoting diverse perspectives

Bertelsmann believes that diverse perspectives enhance the relevance, quality, and innovative strength of its content, products, and services. Openness, trust, and psychological safety provide the foundation for this. The company supports employee-led initiatives to strengthen inclusion and diversity of perspectives.

Fostering Inclusion in Team Culture

A team culture shaped by inclusion is reflected in the everyday interactions of everyone within the company. Leaders bear a particular responsibility to create a work environment in which all employees are respected, heard, and encouraged to share their perspectives. At the same time, every employee is called upon to help shape this culture of collaboration through openness, appreciation, and mutual support.

Integrating Inclusion into HR processes

Bertelsmann aims to provide its employees with fair opportunities to identify and develop their potential. To this end, HR processes are continuously refined, and leaders as well as HR professionals are supported in fulfilling their role in shaping an inclusive corporate culture.

Intensifying exchange and networking

The exchange of knowledge and experience is a key success factor for inclusion. Bertelsmann therefore promotes cross-divisional dialogue and collaboration within the company, as well as engagement in external networks.

Our Partnerships and Networks

Through our engagement in partnerships and networks, we give expression to our approach. By collaborating with organizations and initiatives that share our objectives, we promote the exchange of knowledge and resources, broaden our perspectives, and strengthen our commitment to sustainable development.
