As part of its continued commitment to reducing the country’s sky-high rate of youth unemployment, Bertelsmann in Spain presented a new dual training program in Barcelona at the beginning of the month. All Bertelsmann companies with headquarters in Barcelona are participating in the project. The apprentices will be posted to every company during their training.

Seven students are currently participating in the new program and will complete their technical training in parallel to their dual Bachelor of Arts degree. During the 2013/14 academic year a total of 16 students will participate in the dual training program in Spanish Bertelsmann companies.

Fernando Carro, the Group Management Committee (GMC) member responsible for Spain and South America, opened the dual training program in early September. He welcomed the students, thanking them for their interest in Bertelsmann and congratulating them on their decision to participate in the program. The heads of HR at the various Bertelsmann companies presented their respective divisions to the students and also discussed the Code of Conduct and Bertelsmann Essentials with them.

Bertelsmann Spain has integrated various forms of training in its companies since 1982, and to date has trained around 100 young people. In the spring Bertelsmann introduced a number of projects to tackle youth unemployment.
