Mercedes Spannagel Receives Scholarship

Blessing author Mercedes Spannagel receives the €18,000 scholarship from the Prussian Maritime Trade Foundation’s Circle of Friends. The scholarship includes a public reading on August 29 at the Literary Colloquium Berlin, where Mercedes Spannagel will read from her second novel titled “Crashtest Dummies”. The Prussian Maritime Trade Foundation (Stiftung Preußische Seehandlung) has been sponsoring authors with its literary scholarship program since 1984. The scholarships are aimed at established Berlin based writers in the fields of drama, prose, and poetry. At the occasion of the foundation’s 40th anniversary in 2023, a circle of friends was established to further strengthen the foundation’s literary promotion activities.
