Information and pointers on online risks – season four of “The Inside Man.”
October is Cyber Security Awareness Month – a joint initiative of U.S. and EU authorities to highlight online risks and promote safe behavior in everyday digital life. Countries around the world will be taking part, and Bertelsmann is joining in with a variety of activities.
Digital technologies have long been an indispensable part of both our private and professional lives. At the same time, threats from phishing, malware, and identity theft continue to rise. “Cyber Security Awareness Month” was created to inform users about these risks and to provide practical guidance for handling data responsibly.
Fourth season of ‘The Inside Man’
“Cybersecurity concerns us all,” emphasizes the Corporate Information Security team at Bertelsmann. And it is not solely the responsibility of IT departments – it starts with every individual. Even simple steps such as using strong passwords, being cautious with suspicious emails, and handling sensitive information carefully can significantly improve IT security. With this in mind, the team has announced a wide range of activities for Cyber Security Awareness Month. These include the release of the fourth season of the award-winning awareness series “The Inside Man,” as well as an interactive learning game called “The Inside Man: New Recruits Game,” in which participants take on the role of cyber defenders. Updates on current online threat trends – including new forms of AI-driven fraud – and practical tips on protecting against manipulation in both professional and private life will also be provided.
An ongoing process
The campaign month is an invitation to help strengthen digital security through simple measures. “Security is not a one-off action, but a continuous process to which we can all contribute,” say colleagues from Corporate Information Security.
