The famous foot in the door, a possibility for networking, an initial contact with the industry: these are the chances that the UFA Young Talents Auditions offer acting students. Every year, hundreds of graduates leave state-recognized German-language acting schools and seek their way into the professional world. UFA’s Casting Director Nina Haun and her team are paving this way for young actors. For the 18th time, she is enabling talents to showcase their skills as part of the UFA Young Talents Auditions in Potsdam-Babelsberg, offering them practical advice and explaining what is important for first meetings at an audition. In the past several years of the UFA Young Talents Auditions, dozens of talents were discovered and cast for UFA productions. Whether it’s cinema, crime series, or daily series – UFA’s portfolio is very broad and hence the opportunity to attract attention.
176 graduates take part this year
With 176 graduates, the number of applicants is higher this year than ever before. Since Friday and continuing until tomorrow, the young actors and actresses will get a live audition with Nina Haun and her team in pairs after a session with renowned photographer Joachim Gern, and will also receive advice for their future careers in the film industry.
Before the beginning of the auditions, Nina Haun said: “We are looking forward to the young acting talents and are grateful for the possibility to get to know them all personally and professionally. These days are among the best of the year because they bring so many inspiring encounters and interactions. Sometimes, a casting decision is made right after the audition, sometimes it takes months or years for everything to fall in place – however, one thing is certain: We notice every talent and keep them in mind. The UFA Young Talents Auditions are now taking place for the 18th time, and we are celebrating this great support for acting school graduates!”
Appearances in many UFA productions
In recent years, the UFA Young Talents Auditions have proven themselves as an institution, and many actors and actresses were discovered and have gone on to appear in productions across UFA. Soon, Lilly-Marie Vogler will appear in “Miss Sophie – Same Procedure As Every Year” on Prime Video, Tamara Romera Ginés and Till Raskopf in “Fabian und die mörderische Hochzeit” (also Prime Video). The format will also feature Anton Dreger, who already appeared in the first season of “Where’s Wanda?” (Apple TV+). “Ku’damm 77”, the sequel to the successful ZDF series, presents Massiamy Diaby and Jonathan Stolze. The international hit format “Maxton Hall – The World Between Us” on Prime Video presents Eidin Jalali, who also acts in the RTL crime series “Mord im Revier”. Enzo Bumm and Amal Keller were busy filming for “Das Geschenk” (AT (Netflix) until recently. Talents discovered at the UFA Young Talents Auditions are repeatedly cast in the long-running series “Die Diplomatin” (ARD), “Ein starkes Team”, and “Soko Leipzig” (both ZDF).
