Jelly Roll and Lainey Wilson were the big winners at the CMT Music Awards 2023 ceremony held a few days ago in Austin, Texas. Together, they prevailed in five of the nine categories of Country music’s foremost award. BMG Country music artists had entered the race with a total of twelve nominations.
Recording artists signed to BMG’s BBR Music Group had a big night at the 2023 CMT Music Awards, especially two of themAt this year’s CMT Music Awards on April 2 in Austin, Texas, BBR stars Jelly Roll and Lainey Wilson took home five of the evening’s nine awards for their work. The CMT Music Awards are presented based on fan votes for Country music videos and TV performances by their stars, and are among the most important awards for Country music in the United States. The awards ceremony was broadcast live on CBS, Country Music Television (CMT), and other networks. BMG Country music artists had together scored twelve nominations.
Surprise on the red carpet
Jelly Roll, a first-time CMT Music Award nominee, took home honors for all three awards he was nominated for, including “Male Video of the Year,” “Male Breakthrough Video of the Year,” and the “CMT Digital-First Performance of the Year” – the latter award, much to his own surprise, he received during a red carpet interview before the actual show. Lainey Wilson had four nominations and went on to win CMT Awards in the categories “Female Video of the Year” for the song “Heart Like a Truck” and “Collaborative Video of the Year” for the single “Wait In The Truck” with Hardy - the first award of the evening. The video was also one of three finalists nominated for a “Video Of The Year” award.Following the awards ceremony, BMG songwriter Carly Pearce, herself nominated for a CMT Music Award, performed her number one single “What He Didnʼt Do” from her critically acclaimed album “29: Written In Stone.” Lainey Wilson performed her Top 10 hit “Heart Like A Truck” from her second studio album “Bell Bottom Country,” for which she won “Female Video of the Year.” Fans of Jelly Roll, meanwhile, can look forward to his new album “Whitsitt Chapel,” due out June 2 on BMG’s Stoney Creek Records label.
