"Deutschland-Ticket" as a job ticket for Bertelsmann employees

Subject: Employees
Country: Germany
Category: Project

The "Deutschland-Ticket" is also available as a job ticket through participating Bertelsmann companies. Bertelsmann has reached an agreement with Deutsche Bahn (German Rail) to this effect. Employees can order their Jobticket as of June the 1st - and will then pay a maximum of 34.30 euros per month.

Since May 1, all citizens have been able to use the Deutschland-Ticket to travel conveniently on all means of public transport across Germany for 49 euros per month. Interesting for employees: The Deutschland-Ticket is also available as a job ticket at uniform conditions throughout Germany - including at Bertelsmann. The Group has reached an agreement with Deutsche Bahn (German Rail) to this effect. Every Bertelsmann company in Germany that subsidizes the Deutschland-Ticket as a job ticket by at least 25 percent can participate in this agreement by signing up. "This makes it even more attractive for employees to use the Deutschland-Ticket as a job ticket," says Heike Großekathöfer from Bertelsmann's General Procurement & Mobility Management department. She initiated and implemented the project at the suggestion of the Bertelsmann Group Works Council together with her colleague Petra Freitäger-Sierp and with the support of Christoph Leirer from the Labor Law and Human Resources Coordination Germany department. "This has enabled us to find a uniform solution for all Group companies to use for their job tickets."

A maximum of 34.30 euros per month in total

"Deutsche Bahn (German Rail) has set up a digital ordering process specifically for companies, which employees can use to order their tickets on a subscription basis and cancel them if necessary," continues Heike Großekathöfer. The ticket is provided exclusively in digital form, she said, and must be downloaded via Deutsche Bahn's "Navigator" app. "The financial advantage for our colleagues is evident," Petra Freitäger-Sierp calculates. "If a Bertelsmann company covers at least 25 percent of the issue price per month and ticket - i.e., at least 12.25 euros - there is an additional discount of five percent on the issue price, which would be 2.45 euros. The job ticket thus costs each employee a maximum of 34.30 euros per month." The employer subsidy of at least 25 percent is credited to the employee's salary/wage account every month. "Deutsche Bahn then deducts 46.55 euros per month from the employee's personal bank account via a Sepa direct debit," says Petra Freitäger-Sierp.
